A new chapter...

Marianne:
On March 1st, I started a new chapter of my life. I started working as a Business Manager at Unimedic Pharma. The company is a Swedish pharmaceutical company that wants to establish itself in Denmark. And that´s my responsibility to do. It´s going to be extremely exciting, and I look so much forward to everything. Well, I´ve already started and so far I have a really good gut feeling.

I´ll be working with a lot of very good products, wonderful people and super working conditions. The company is located in Solna, just outside Stockholm, and so far, I work from home. I do plan to establish an office during this year. I already visited the office in Sweden early February for some training. I met my new colleagues and we learned a lot. There was also time for some fun socializing. We were on O'learys, a typical American sports bar, where we had dinner and played shuffleboard. Something I´d never tried before. Hilarious!

In early January we went Northern Jutland. Michael went to the annual" cellar lunch" at Karin & Dan´s together with his diving fraternity. Something he always looks forward to. The boys simply dive down in the basement, and do not come up until there is no more room for food and drinks. Equally important is that the world situation has been clarified and the same old stories have been told again and again. My imagination tells me that the stories have even more exciting details than previous year (Well, I admit that I have no facts - these are all my assumptions...)

The day after we met with Karin & Dan and Rikke & Søren on CW Obel's Square in Aalborg. Dan and I were going to ice skate. Another one of the wonderful cultural experiences, that I was given for my birthday. If I´m going to say so myself, both Dan and I actually did pretty good. I did fall once and hurt my knee but hopefully it´s nothing serious. Afterwards we all had brunch at Søgaards Brewery. In fact, I think that Dan and I (rightly) enjoyed it a bit more than the others - we sort of earned it!

At the risk of repeating myself, I must admit that I haven´t golfed much during the winter months. I´m just not that keen on playing when it´s cold and wet. Michael has been somewhat more diligent - but that´s really nothing new. In the middle of January, we did together on Mølleåen (where we are members) and played an incredibly beautiful (and cold!) round. We planned to play during last weekend, but it was raining most of the time, so we cancelled.
The winter has been quite warm and also with less precipitation (= rain) than usual. This means that there have been many beautiful days. Wr´ve had quite a few days with snow, which I simply love. Surprise, surprise!

As you already know. I´ve started singing in Birkerød Gospel Choir. On 12 February, we gave a concert in Birkerød church. It was a huge success with full house - actually some people had to go in vain. It was a pretty awesome experience.

In early March, my Mom and Dad came to visit. It´d been quite a while since they were here and it was a great opportunity to come since Sisse and Caro were celebrating their birthdays. We met with Caro´s family and the art museum Arken. There was a rather fascinating exhibition about the human body "Horror! Is it alive? "- And you were really in doubt. They looked so much alive! Sisse decided that she wanted to be a part of an installation, and she dressed in a t-shirt that was part of the installation and stood up on a block. And then ... Well, so what? Art (I guess!) It was a wonderful day with good food, time to play games, crocheting, "hygge" and of course a lot of talking.

The following weekend we were in Northern Jutland. Friday night we visited Mom and Dad, where we welcomed springtime with lumpfish caviar and blinis. One of my absolute favorites.
Later that night we went to the town´s sport and cultural center where we met with Jan, Jensine and their 3 lovely girls. Jan was going to play with his band Soulfunction - something we had been looking forward to. Last time we heard them was at our wedding. They were just as good as then. A wonderful experience! I was a little excited to see if I would meet someone I knew from back when I lived in that town - and I did! Charlotte, who was in my class in elementary school. Now she lives in Slangerup - less than 10 km from us in Farum.

Saturday we were lucky enough to beeing able to eat lunch outside. It was wonderful!

Last week I had a visit from one of my former colleagues at Snowbasin, Tammy. She was visiting Denmark with her husband Mark and some friends, Karen and Steve. We had a lovely day together where we saw lots of things. We visited the Church of Our Lady, as they were very interested in seeing Thorvaldsen's statue of Christ and the 12 apostles, also located here. Then we drove to Frederiksberg, where we saw the Mormon church's temple and we even visited the office where we talked with the local missionary. He is originally from Utah, and they had common acquaintances. Small world! From there we went to Frederiksborg Castle and on to Kronborg.

We ate dinner in Lyngby on Meyer's Spisehus before I drove them back to the hotel in Copenhagen. The four of them were en route to Berlin, Pragh and several other places in Europe. It was great to see Tammy again and hear a bit about how things are at Snowbasin. This season has been fantastic - there is still plenty of snow.
